Sadly when you google ‘rabbit hutch’ the images that show are not what rabbits should be living in. Images of a small wooden rectangle box with a wire mesh at the front and a tiny sleeping compartment, maybe a tiny run is included too. Rabbits need homes that can provide them with everything they need to live a happy, healthy life & that includes space! A hutch is no longer enough!
So if not a hutch, then what? Well thankfully there are many other ideas that make a great home for your rabbits.
Here are just a few outdoor ideas to show that small hutches are so yesterday!
Above is a clever way to use a small hutch that is no longer enough! Place it inside a bigger home and use it as a cosy hideout area for rabbits to run in & out of at their own leisure!
Rabbits need space to live & have fun & be happy & healthy. The minimum requirement from the RWAF (Rabbit welfare association fund) is 10ft x 6ft x 3ft high (3m x 2m x 1m) for a pair of average sized rabbits, regardless if they live indoors or outside.
Spread the word… Rabbit hutches are so yesterday! A rabbit, no matter what it’s age or size, whether kept indoors or outdoors, needs room & lots of it to live a happy, healthy life.
